Most stick welding or SMAW (shielded metal arc welding) is often done in harsh conditions, the Tillman 495 is made for this punishment. The Tillman 495 stick welding glove is made of durable reverse grain pigskin, which is naturally resistant to oil and water, and are lock stitched sewn with flame resistant DuPont Kevlar thread for added strength.
